Areas All you need to know about Benahavis

The municipality Benahavis is located on the mountainside between Marbella, Estepona and Ronda. Due to being the richest municipality of the province Malaga, and offering low taxes, this is a very popular residential area. It is home to many luxurious and exclusive properties with breathtaking mountain, golf and sea views. Due to its location, Benahavis is perfect for hiking as there is a lot of untouched nature and the paths are very family friendly. Benahavis is divided into many different areas, each with their own characteristics.

Starting with one of the most prestigious residential areas in Europe: La Zagaleta. This luxurious estate includes an extremely high level of security and access is restricted to only owners and their guests. It also has an equestrian centre, a heliport, a gourmet shop, two golf courses, each with their own clubhouse.

El Madroñal is one of the longest established private residential areas of the Costa del Sol, the villas available for sale here are predominantly from private owners on the market at competitive prices. This gated community is located opposite La Zagaleta. The location offers privacy, tranquility but at the same time a lot of space and open sea views.

La Heredia sits on the hillside and is known for its colourful Mediterranean style houses. This urbanisation has a typical Andalusian village-feel to it, due to the narrow cobbled streets and houses built closely together. La Heredia offers on-site amenities including a Dutch bakery, butchers, bar and restaurant.

La Quinta is situated between Benahavis village and Marbella, built around a 27-hole golf course. It offers a large variety of apartments, townhouses and villas. The five star hotel, The Westin, is located here and includes a Golf & Spa Resort, La Quinta Spa & Kid’s Club, three restaurants including Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine, a gymnasium, paddle and tennis courts and the La Quinta Golf Academy.

Los Arqueros is the perfect area for golfers, the course was designed to challenge the experienced golfer and test the determination of golfers who are fairly new to the game. This urbanisation opened in 1991 and has recently gone through a spectacular transformation, including a brand new state of the art gym and bowling alley. There are many new developments in this area and it is just a 7 minute drive away from the beach.

The village of Benahavis is characterised as a picturesque Andalusian village with a strong foreign community. This charming town is surrounded by a beautiful nature reserve and is known for its peace and quiet. Benahavis is home to some charming apartments and houses and is the perfect location for those wanting tranquility, but also the possibility to live within walking distance to some of the best restaurants and gastronomical experiences in the area. Los Flamingos is famous for its extremely luxurious hotel Villa Padierna Palace where many famous politicians and celebrities have stayed. El Paraiso and Atalaya are well-known residential areas between Guadalmina and Estepona. These locations offer gated luxury villas, modern apartments and penthouses and spacious townhouses. What sets these urbanisations apart from the rest is the combination of large green areas with small lakes set in beautiful gardens. Both El Paraiso and Atalaya include their own golf courses, restaurants, clubhouses and amenities.

The infamous Marbella Club Hotel on The Golden Mile also has its own golf resort, residential estate and equestrian centre, located in the hills of Benahavis. The area is fully gated offering panoramic views down to the Mediterranean sea, Morocco and Gibraltar.
